Watchers of the North – Now In Inuktitut!

ImageWho watches the watchmen? Soon you will be able to in English – AND Inuktitut. We’ve just finished the process of transforming the six-episode English-language version of Watchers of the North for APTN into Inuktitut.  Recorded by Chris Coleman of Nuvu Studios in Iqaluit and Igloolik in North Baffin dialect, and mixed by Kyle Stanfield, Watchers of the North’s Inuktitut version features the vocal talents of  Kevin Kablutsiak, Lazarus Arreak, Karliin Aariak, Stephen Innuksuk, Jeela Paluq-Cloutier, Julie Alivaktuk and Nancy Mike. This will mean viewers whose first language is Inuktitut will be able  to completely enjoy the adventures of the Rangers in their mother tongue.

ImageThe series follows the off and on duty stories and adventures of male and female reservists in two closely knit Inuit communities: Gjoa Haven and Taloyoak, part of CRPG 1. The Canadian Rangers are made up of more than 4500 largely aboriginal Canadian Forces reservists across Canada, most often in coastal and remote northern communities.  The series doesn’t yet have a broadcast launch date set, but we expect that everyone will be able to see it on the airwaves in early 2014.
