We’re Looking For a Research Intern!

ImageWith “Watchers in the North” shot and edited and awaiting broadcast, we at Picture This Productions (www.picturethis.ca) are looking for an intrepid intern with strong ties to First Nation/Inuit/Métis communities for work on a new, upcoming series for APTN. With over 20 years of experience producing non-fiction television, we are currently in development for a new documentary/reality series following Métis, Inuit and First Nations young adults as they discover the stories of their ancestors who fought in World Wars I and II.
Your main duties will include:
  • contacting the living relatives of First Nation/Inuit/Métis people who served in WWI and WWII
  • Conducting telephone/in-person interviews
  • Transcribing interviews
  • acting as a liaison with First Nation/Inuit/Métis communities
  • Conducting historical/archival research
  • Working in coordination with a writer and producer
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Experience researching, ideally for broadcast purposes
  • Comfort and ease in conducting interviews, especially over the telephone
  • Experience in dealing with sensitive issues and vulnerable populations
  • English/French bilingual an asset, but not required
  • fluency in First Nation language/Inuktitut/Métis fluency an asset
    An undergraduate degree completed or in progress, post-graduate education an asset
  • Required: First Nations/Inuit/Métis background
4 weeks, part-time work (20 hours/week)

Flexible, April 22, or May 1st
